 Post subject: reinstalling stern unit

i am having trouble correctly aligning the shift lever to the right position to install my alpha one stern drive to the housing while still remaining in the correct gear........

your shifter need to be in forward and the drive shift arm needs to be pointing straight toward the bow of the boat. it also helps to turn the prop counter clock wise to keep the clutch dog enaged. Let me know if you need any more help
